I drew this last weekend: it took about two hours. Malls are great when you don't have to shop in them. I like this particular mall because it has a Tim Hortons, so I can drink coffee and draw at the same time. I think if I were rich, I would do that constantly. Although maybe not in a mall. Unless the mall was in the tropics someplace.

Here's a fun bonus drawing I did of a thing drooling and screaming. I'm trying to shade more, and drawings take about 1000% longer because of it. Although all the inking practice is making my inking faster.

I drew the above on a drawing safari at the Museum of Nature last weeked. Though I didn't plan it that way, it was about a year from the last safari I went on. Interesting (but probably only to me).

This drawing was inspired by the Pale Man creature in Pan's Labyrinth. I know, I know, the Pale Man had eyes in his palms not on his face, and was a three-dimensional actor, not a drawing, and probably shouldn't look so happy, yeah-yeah-yeah...I did say "inspired by," not "copied from." Sheesh.
"Labyrinth" is an oddly-spelled word.

So I've been unable to post for a while, as my geriatric computer is...well...geriatric. And I think I was using a less than stellar web browser. But! Here now, for your viewing enjoyment, is the progress of an ATC I made recently. I came up with the rough idea on a post-it note, and then did a final colour copy. Oooh! Pretty!

This is a drawing I did for an Artist Trading Card. I recently made a Swap-Bot account, and am having fun making/sending/receiving art. I thought it would be fun to show the stages of this work: the first image is the rough I did in my sketchbook, the second is the blue-pencil rough I did right before inking, and the third is the final product. I kept it black n' white because it has more of an old-timey horror movie feel to it.

This is an old lady I saw in the grocery store the other day. She looked very odd, and when I passed her, she said "I'm not spending that much on Sugar Twin!" Awesome. Presumably she was speaking to the old dude she was with, but who knows.

Oh, and an addendum to the last post: the OC Transpo strike ended a little while ago. Finally. It only took 51 days to resolve the fiasco. "Fiasco" is a fun work. It looks like it should be pronounced differently.

This is a film I animated, based on a really, really rough Flash film I did a few years back. I was working at an animation studio, using Flash, and during the slow times of the day, we would make ridiculous little films to amuse one another. This is one of them - if I can find the orignal (which is super rough and stickman-like), I'll post it here later.
Anyways, for the legalities: the idea, artwork, and music were all created by me. The scream sound effect I got from a free sound effect site, all other sounds I generated myself. With my own vocal chords!

I know I said a while back I would try to post every week. Well. That was me not realizing how much work a wedding is - I got married this past September, and really had no clue how much work goes into planning a wedding. Although my wife had to deal with most of it (I did help, I swear!), it was still a big time-eater. But! Now the wedding madness is long done, and I've included two (yes!) drawings for your viewing enjoyment. I tried to find the most Halloween-themed drawings from my sketchbook. I have a couple more, but I'll save them for...hopefully tomorrow. I'll try not to get lazy.

Hello! Its been a while since my last post, and since its been really hot this past weekend, what better than a nice, hot bowl of porridge. That was a long sentence. I'm working on some new drawings...I have a couple colour pieces I'm trying to finish. Stay tuned! Or don't! In the meantime, I'll try to post at least once a week because, really, two months is too long to go between posts.

Since its the end of March, it's about time for Octo-Chicken. The two things are unrelated, really, but let's pretend they are.

In other news...I've discovered a little icon while posting that says "add video" when you hold the cursor over it. So, I am going to do one of two things...start adding some animated posts, or create a separate animation blog. I'm not sure yet. I'll probably do a test-post one of these days to see how it works. If this goes well, I will be one happy camper indeed.

Harry Hotdog in the Land of Linguine

This is a link to a 24-hour comic I did last October. You draw one page per hour for 24 hours straight. Its a great experience, but you will end up very tired and groggy by the end. I had to take a nap partway through. I was tired.
